Language Arts Worksop
The Language Arts Workshop is a writing and reading workshop that is meant to increase students' skills in narrative and evidence based writing responses through the use of short stories, poetry and nonfiction writing. Students will develop the vocabulary and critical thinking skills necessary to discuss and analyze writing and reading in sophisticated ways through dialogue and the written word.
Students will receive more individualized instruction by being placed in a class that reflects their writing ability. Cooperative learning will be emphasized and detailed responses from the instructors and peers will play an essential role in each student's growth as a reader and writer.
This course is aimed at fourth through seventh graders. However, if a current third grader is interested, a pre-assessment of literary terms and a writing sample would be administered to determine if the course is a good fit.
