Meet Ms. Banas
Interim Principal
Sydney Banas serves as the Interim Principal of Visitation School, where she has been a member of the faculty since 2022.
Ms. Banas attended Dominican University of California where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies/Teacher Education and received minors in English, History, and Cognitive and Experimental Science, earning membership in Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society and Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society. Additionally, Ms. Banas has earned her Multiple Subject Clear Teaching Credential through UCLA.
Prior to joining Visitation School, Ms. Banas gained valuable classroom experience working in Kindergarten, 1st, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms. She gained additional experience in the IEP resource room strengthening her knowledge and expertise in meeting the academic and developmental needs of students.
Ms. Banas began her career at Visitation School as the 5th grade teacher, where her goal was to further develop student confidence in their abilities, increase their independence, improve problem-solving techniques, acquire more advanced listening and responding skills, develop further collaboration abilities, and to continue developing into thoughtful, caring, socially responsible leaders of tomorrow.
Additionally, Ms. Banas held the positions of Admissions Coordinator, where she tested prospective transfer students in grades 1-7; Dean of Students, overseeing the school’s student discipline program; and golf coach.
In her current role as Interim Principal, Ms. Banas works closely with students, families, faculty, and staff as the STEP Coordinator and oversees the school’s behavior program. She is dedicated to helping create a welcoming, faith-filled learning environment where every student is encouraged to grow academically, socially, and spiritually.
