Ms. Emily Torchiana grew up outside of Philadelphia, where she received a Catholic education from preschool through 12th grade. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology before moving to Los Angeles in 2019 to pursue her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. She has called the South Bay home for 6 years.
Ms. Emily has always been passionate about supporting students’ mental, social, and emotional well-being. During graduate school, she gained counseling experience at a local Catholic school, supporting students with a wide range of needs, both short-term and ongoing, including grief, bullying, divorce, family changes, peer conflict, and more. She is now an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor.
In addition to serving as Visitation's full-time counselor and STEP coordinator, Ms. Emily brings over 10 years of experience speaking at schools about mental health awareness and bullying prevention, including delivering a TEDx Talk and receiving the National Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award for Public Service.
Outside of school, she enjoys playing beach volleyball with friends, practicing hot yoga, and spending time with family.

Informed Consent Form - this gives the counselor permission to see a student for counseling, but does not begin active counseling sessions. It will be kept on-file, if student needs counseling services in the future.
Referral Form for Counseling - this gives the counselor quick background information as to why the student is being referred for counseling. It can be filled out by either a parent/guardian, staff/teacher, or student, but it does not give the counselor consent to see the student for counseling. Counselor will still need the informed consent form signed to initiate counseling services.
