Meet Mrs. Abney

Junior High Science

Stacey Abney is the middle school science teacher at Visitation School. Mrs. Abney was born in England, grew up in Toronto, Canada, and lived in various countries such as Australia, Argentina, France, and Holland. She has been in Los Angeles for 3 years now, and loves every minute. Mrs. Abney and her husband, Larry live in Playa Vista with their sons Austin and Miles. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with family, watching her kids play sports, and visiting the beach whenever she can.

Stacey graduated from Chicago State University with a Bachelor of Science in 2005. After graduating she went to Australia and completed her teaching credential. Upon her return to the USA, she taught at San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno, CA for 5 years. Three of those years were teaching Biology and PE, and two as the Athletic Director. When she first moved to Los Angeles, she taught at St. Mary’s Academy in Inglewood, as well as St. Joseph’s School in Hawthorne. Mrs. Abney taught middle school science at St. Joseph’s and had a great time teaching the curriculum.

As an educator Mrs. Abney wants to help students meet their fullest potential by providing a safe, risk-taking, and collaborative environment. She wants our students to develop positive character and leadership traits which are essential in becoming a productive citizen. Stacey believes a positive elementary and middle school education is essential to creating successful life-long learners. Her goal for middle school science at Visitation is to get her students excited about science and prepare them for high school.
