Course Description: Old Testament The purpose of the sixth-grade religion course is to understand, analyze, and discuss the Old Testament. Additionally, the purpose of this course is to understand why the Old Testament is important and what it means for Catholics. Learning about the Old Testament also shows that Jesus was the fulfillment of God’s Covenant. Furthermore, since sixth grade is also covering ancient world history, connections will be made to add context to what is being discussed in the Old Testament. Reading and analysis of the Bible will also be done in this course to give further context to what the textbook is saying. 7thGrade Religion Course Description: New Testament The purpose of the seventh-grade religion course is to understand, analyze, and discuss the New Testament. Additionally, the purpose of this course is to learn about Jesus and his life. Along with learning about his teachings, his relationship with the Church, and its members. Learning about the New Testament especially about Jesus will show that Jesus is the answer to many if not all-important questions. Furthermore, since seventh grade has already covered ancient world history, connections will be made to add context to what is being discussed in the New Testament. Reading and analysis of the Bible will also be done in this course to give further context to what the textbook is saying. 8thGrade Religion Course Description: The Church: Then and Now The purpose of the Eighth-grade religion course is to understand, analyze, and discuss the Church founded by Jesus Christ. This course will deepen understanding and appreciation of the Church, while also helping to develop an understanding of this one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church. Additionally, the course will dive into the history of the Church and its continual growth into the modern Church it is today. Reading and analysis of the Bible will also be done in this course to give further context to what the textbook is saying. |
