Junior Kindergarten is a co-ed full day program, running from 7:50am to 2:50pm Monday-Thursday and 7:50am to 12:20pm on Fridays. Daily and weekly lessons present the fundamentals and set the foundation for future learning in Kindergarten and beyond. The program includes Language Arts, Math, Visual Arts, Music, Physical Education, Science, Computers and Spanish. Social and Emotional Development Objectives: - Nurture positive self-identity - Nurture emotional security - Learn appropriate responses to joy and disappointment - Learn to respond well to guidance - Develop social interactions - Nurture respect for rights and needs of others - Nurture respect for the property of others - Learn to play well with others - Learn to resolve conflict appropriately - Develop self-reliance in a wide range of activities - Develop self-regulation - Follow multi-step directions - Develop an understanding about their community and world Approach to Learning Objectives: - Develop a positive approach to learning - Develop competence as a creative problem solver - Learn to use problem solving strategies - Learn to verbalize thinking strategies - Take pride in accomplishments - Take responsible risks - Maintain attention to task - Listen - Follow oral multi-step directions - Show continuing effort - Contribute to discussions - Ask questions |
